Man banned from Elmhurst park after exposing himself

A 19-year-old Bellwood man will spend his 20th birthday behind bars after pleading guilty Friday in DuPage County to public indecency and lewd exposure.

Nikolai Anderson will report to DuPage County jail on June 1, three days before his birthday, to begin serving a 160-day sentence followed by two years of probation and a ban from Elmhurst's Pioneer Park.

Anderson initially faced 15 years in prison before prosecutors dropped charges of attempted predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, sexual exploitation of a child and misdemeanor indecent solicitation of a child stemming from the events of Aug. 19, 2012, at Pioneer Park.

Prosecutors said Anderson and a friend approached the park on bicycles before he exposed himself to two girls, ages 12 and 14, and directed them to perform a sex act.

When police arrived, Anderson tried to flee on his bicycle, prosecutors said. And though he surrendered when charges were filed, prosecutors said police spent days looking for him.
