Fire leaves Oakbrook Terrace home with $50,000 in damage

A fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to a two-story home Saturday afternoon in Oakbrook Terrace, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to the home on Nimitz Road about noon and found fire and smoke coming from the second floor, according to a news release.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the 911 call and when the first firefighters arrived, the news release stated.

Firefighters put out the blaze in less than a half-hour.

Oakbrook Terrace police and investigators from the Oakbrook Terrace and York Center fire protection districts continue to probe the cause.

Units from the Elmhurst, Lombard and Oak Brook fire departments also responded.
