Cohen gives 'medieval' bad name
Richard Cohen, riding the Democrat bandwagon, devoted his recent column to complaining about Scott Walker's cowardice for refusing to answer a question about his views on the theory of evolution. Of course, what the Democrat intellectuals want Walker to admit is that he opposes it, an opinion which Cohen, the journalist, describes as "medieval."
According to him, "The issue is closed, not debatable." What Democrat intellectuals fail to understand is that issues which are closed and not debatable are dogmas. They belong in the category of religion not science. The conclusions of scientists are always open and debatable. Cohen's opinion on evolution gives "medieval" a bad name.
In a sense, Darwinism is not debatable because Democrat academics refuse to debate. They refuse because they tend to lose. They prefer censorship to intellectual engagement.
No purpose exists for Walker to try to inform mainstream journalists about his views on evolution. Any answer Walker might offer would rely on nuanced distinctions. Most likely, they would not understand him and botch reporting on his answer.
