Motorist critically injured in Warrenville crash

A motorist was in critical condition Monday after suffering a medical emergency and hitting two vehicles in Warrenville.

Police say the accident happened about 7:20 a.m. Monday while the unidentified motorist was driving south on Route 59. It appears the medical emergency caused him to lose control of the vehicle, officials said.

The vehicle crossed over the center median, north of Mack Road, and struck two northbound vehicles, police said.

Police said the driver who lost control was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and was in critical condition on Monday afternoon.

The drivers of the two vehicles that were struck also were injured. One was treated at the scene. Another was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Members of the Warrenville Police Department are investigating the accident with the help of the FIAT Major Crash Reconstruction Team, officials said.
