Knipple resigns from Dist. 57 school board, search on for replacement
Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 is on the hunt for a new school board member.
A vacancy was created after Sann Knipple resigned her post on Jan. 16. In a letter she handed to the rest of the board, Knipple said she decided to resign because of growing obligations in her personal and professional lives.
Knipple had just started her second term on the board.
“As my children have grown and both my career and my husband’s career have evolved, I can no longer devote the attention demanded by those roles while also meeting the demands of serving on the school board,” she said.
School board President Karen Nejdl praised Knipple for her service to District 57.
“Sann was an outstanding board member,” Nejdl said. “She was very well prepared and a true advocate for students and the community.”
By state law, the district has 45 days from the resignation date to find a replacement. Interested residents are invited to fill out an online application, which can be found on the district’s website, d57.org. The applications will be reviewed by the full board, which may ask some candidates in to be interviewed.
The appointed board member will serve a two-year term that will end in April 2015. The deadline to fill out an online application is Feb. 5.
