Wood Dale residents check out health fair

Active Wood Dale residents should find it easier to keep their fitness-related New Year’s resolutions following Saturday’s annual health fair at the Wood Dale Recreation Complex.

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, about 250 residents took in all the park district has to offer, ranging from gymnastics and dance programs to use of the fitness studio.

“A big part of our core mission is to help our residents lead healthy and active lifestyles through our events,” Recreation Supervisor Adam Vasquez said. “The gym is not for everyone, so we use this opportunity to tell everyone about all of our facilities and programs like our basketball leagues and annual 5K run.”

Residents who visited the rec complex also sampled some group exercise classes, tried out the fitness studio for free and met the group fitness instructors.

“We want the community that this isn’t just a big box where you come to work out,” Vasquez said. “We want to help personalize everyone’s experience and make them feel at home.”

Everyone in attendance also received 14 percent off all fitness studio memberships.
