Barrington fire district buys water tanker for new department

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District trustees have approved the purchase of a new water tanker vehicle that will improve the district’s ability to deliver water to areas of its jurisdiction that do not have fire hydrants, officials announced.

The 3,000-gallon tanker recently arrived at district headquarters and will begin service Jan. 1, when the district launches operations independent of the village of Barrington’s fire department.

District officials negotiated a purchase price of $205,000, down from $218,000, saving taxpayers $13,000 on the sale. The tanker was made by Luverne, Minn.-based Midwest Fire Equipment.
