Santa hears wish lists in Schaumburg

Having previously made his Woodfield Mall debut, Santa Claus rode a fire truck over to the Prairie Center for the Arts on Friday night for Schaumburg’s tree-lighting event.

The village’s elected officials served as Santa’s opening act, leading attendees in singing carols.

The tree itself was decorated with ornaments made by various youth groups and other local organizations. Nonperishable food items were collected there for those in need.

After the tree was lit, children met with Santa in the Prairie Center’s Maggie Atcher Theatre.

Coop, the mascot of the Schaumburg Boomers, visited with the crowd as the Schaumburg Park District Community Singers took over the caroling duties.
