An interview with Ken Buckman of Elgin.
Q: How long have you been decorating your house like this?
A: Every year we've lived here. This is the seventh year.
Q: What inspired you to go all out with your decorations?
A: I've always liked white lights. I've always liked wreaths. I like the classy look. There are no colored lights in there.
Q: How many hours does it take to put up the display?
A: It gets longer every year. This year my son Sam helped me for the first time. It took all weekend -- an intense, long weekend.
Q: How many strings of lights are involved?
A: I have about 10,000 lights.
Q: How much does your electric bill spike in December?
A: I don't really watch it because it's always out of control. I have four kids, and it's always high.
Q: What do your neighbors think of your display?
A: They love it.
