Hoffman, Schaumburg Jaycees hosting pizza contest

Anyone interested in tasting pizza from a variety of places in the Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg area are invited to a pizza contest next week hosted by two local chapters of the Jaycees.

The contest will run from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Schaumburg Township Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates.

For a $6 donation, guests will get all-you-can-eat samples of pizza from eight to 10 different restaurants, said Hoffman Estates Jaycees President Crystal Divis. Kids 4 and younger are free and there is a discount available for families of four or more.

Guests will then be provided with a ballot to vote for their favorite entries in three categories: thin crust, pan and specialty.

“The community loves it,” Divis said, adding that it gives the restaurants exposure when their names are revealed at the end of the contest. “It’s a great family event.”

Profits from the event will help fund programs for the Hoffman Estates Jaycees and the Schaumburg Jaycees, both which give people ages 18 to 40 an opportunity to network and develop leadership skills while serving the community.
