Police still trying to locate missing Schaumburg woman

After a weekend of chasing down possible sightings of Beata Candre, Schaumburg police said Sunday they have no new information about the whereabouts of the wife and mother who went missing more than a week ago.

Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said the department has received one or two calls or emails each day from people who think they may have seen Candre or her vehicle, but none have turned up any information helping to locate her.

Nebl said the entire Schaumburg investigations unit has been involved in the search for Candre. On Friday an officer rode in a state police helicopter searching isolated areas for Candre's car.

“We are making every single effort to find her,” Nebl said.

Family and friends have not heard from Candre, 48, since Oct. 12, and they say she has a medical condition that leads them to be concerned about her well-being.

The police department doesn't have any upcoming searches planned because there has not been a confirmed sighting of Candre to narrow down an area to search.

Members of a Facebook group have been passing out fliers at stores and other public areas for the past week.

“Volunteers have been saturating the Chicago area with the flyer and her picture. We're hoping that the more people who see the flyer, the better chance of someone recognizing her or the vehicle,” Nebl said.

Last week Nebl said police don't know where Candre was going, but one possibility was the Northwest side of Chicago — specifically the Oriole Park neighborhood, where she grew up.

That's where Candre went when she was reported missing for about two days in late August. At that time she left under similar circumstances on her own accord, and later called to ask her husband to pick her up.

Candre is a white female with brown hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black sweatpants and white gym shoes and drives a black 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Illinois license plate ARH648.

Anyone who sees Candre or her vehicle is asked to call 911 or Schaumburg Police Department Investigations at (847) 882-3534.
