Key distinction with Democrats and GOP

The Democrats have the advantage of unity. The unity is based on their belief that the government should be your mama and your daddy. Republicans do not agree on just one mission statement, there are at least three or four.

It is very rare that you will find all Republicans in agreement or disagreement. This confounds the Democrats and they feel that the Republicans should have only one way of thinking, preferably theirs. By reaching some understanding with one or two Republican leaders does not guarantee agreement with the whole. To the loyal Democrat this is incomprehensible. They are used to listening to the voice from Washington, they believe, and obey, without question. That isn’t how it works with the Republicans. They fight with one another as much as with the Democrats.

Today’s troubles stem back to the early Democrat approach to the Republicans. Remember our president’s quote, “We won?” His belief was now the Republicans should heel, and it’s been all downhill since. That attitude is alive and well in the Oval Office. The president will have to learn how to be a working politician. Speaking too loudly and carrying a big stick isn’t working.
