Glen Ellyn Police found the body of a 33-year-old woman who had been reported missing from Wheaton during the search of a park on Saturday.

Police said Linda Velez of Wheaton had suffered "obvious signs of trauma," but that there is no reason to believe there is any threat to the public.

According to a news release, Glen Ellyn police officers had been patrolling parks and wooded areas in the village after a recent report of a missing person from Wheaton within the past week.

While on foot patrol in Panfish Park on Saturday morning, an officer discovered a location determined to be suspicious, the release said.

"His observations were based on upon the foot traffic and activity that appeared to have occurred in this forested area of the park," the release said.

The DuPage County Sheriff's office Evidence Team and the Wheaton Police Department were called in to assist in investigating the area throughout the day on Saturday.

The DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the case, but police said there is no evidence to suggest that there is any danger to the public.
