St. Charles

Ÿ Timothy Curtis Audet, 19, of the 1200 block of Walnut Street, St. Charles, was charged Sept. 11 with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a police report. Police said Audet’s vehicle slammed into a house on the 0-100 block of South 13th Street. Audet told police he tried to stop, but his brakes failed to slow the car in time.

Ÿ Jake D. Whitehead, 21, of the 3N300 block of Knollview Court, Elburn, was charged Sept. 11 with illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, according to a police report.

Ÿ Johnathan C. Apida, 20, of the 1800 block of Pleasant Avenue, St. Charles, was charged Sept. 11 with illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger and underage drinking, according to a police report.

Ÿ A $580 iPhone was reported stolen Sept. 10 from an establishment on the 1400 block of North Fifth Avenue. A police report indicates a $40 phone case, a driver’s license, a gift card and credit card also were stolen.

Ÿ The windshield of a 2003 International 4200 truck was reportedly smashed while the vehicle was parked overnight on the 3000 block of East Main Street Sept. 13, police said. Damages were estimated at $400.

Ÿ A 64-gallon trash receptacle was reported stolen from a location on the 1400 block of Madison Avenue Sept. 12, police said.

Ÿ A $400 smartphone was reported stolen Sept. 12 from a 2001 Hyundai while it was parked on the 200 block of North Randall Road, according to a police report.

Kane County

Ÿ About 25 bronze flower vases were stolen off headstones between noon Sept. 1 and 9:24 a.m. Sept. 17 at River Hills Memorial Park, 1650 S. River St. (Route 25), Batavia, according to a sheriff’s report.

Ÿ On Sept. 15, the theft of a battery charger and an Echo gasoline-powered blower was discovered in an empty garage in the 41W000 block of Route 38, Elburn. The theft was reported to the sheriff’s office at 8:26 a.m. Sunday after the owner found someone had cut the cable from the battery to the starter on a riding lawn mower stored in an empty barn on the property. The property is uninhabited.
