Boomers drop another one to Aviators

The host Schaumburg Boomers dropped their second consecutive 4-1 decision to the Rockford Aviators on Wednesday night.

Steve McQuail’s 16th homer of the season put the Boomers in front in the bottom of the second inning. The Aviators answered with 3 runs in the top of third off starter and loser Mike Giovenco, who worked 513 innings and allowed 4 runs.

The Boomers (45-32), who remain tied for first in the West Division of the Frontier League, collected 4 hits, 2 by Brian McConkey.

The Boomers wrapped up their series with Rockford at 6:30 p.m. today when right-hander Tony Delmonico (0-1, 7.50 ERA) starts against lefty Dan Meyer (0-1, 4.50).
