Prison time for Schaumburg teen charged with burglary

A Cook County judge sentenced a Schaumburg teenager to five years in prison Monday in exchange for his guilty plea to burglarizing a home, court records show.

Schaumburg police arrested Stephen L. Brown, 19, and a younger teen in February after a neighbor reported seeing the two climb a fence, then enter and exit a home on the 900 block of Cardiff Court.

Court records show the sentence will run concurrent with 2012 charges of robbery and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. Last year, a judge sentenced Brown to the Cook County sheriff’s boot camp in exchange for his guilty plea to those charges. Court records show his participation in the boot camp program was revoked on Feb. 28, 2013, after his Feb. 25 arrest in Schaumburg.

Brown received credit for the 166 days he has spent in custody since his arrest. He was also ordered to pay $1,358 in fines, court records show.
