Addison man charged in wife’s murder

An Addison man has been charged with the murder of his wife in what police say was a domestic incident.

Kurtis Worley, of the 900 block of Craig Place, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Martha Worley, 39, according to a release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney on Sunday night.

Kurtis Worley will appear in bond court at 8 a.m. this morning.

Addison police responded about 3 a.m. Friday to reports of a domestic disturbance at the Worley house.

Martha Worley was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Martha Worley, whose maiden name was Hernandez, married Kurtis Worley about a decade or so ago, according to a relative who lives in Louisiana and who didn’t want to be named.

According to the relative, the couple had a daughter together and also were raising Martha Worley’s two older sons.

“She was real loving and caring, outgoing and funny. A real sweet lady,” the relative said. He declined to comment on the circumstances of Worley’s death.

Neighbors told ABC 7 Friday that the couple who lived in the home were arguing on the front lawn late Thursday night, and the argument later escalated indoors.

An official from the Cook County medical examiner’s office said an autopsy would be conducted on Monday.
