Police find man missing from Addison hotel

A Kansas City, Mo., man with dementia was reunited with his family Friday after going missing in Addison on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Robert Tribbitt, 79, was located by police about 10:10 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Lake Street in Northlake, Addison Deputy Chief Mike Simo said. Tribbitt was taken to an area hospital for observation, but had no apparent injuries, Simo said.

Before he was reported missing, Tribbitt last was seen about 4 p.m. Thursday in Addison, where he was staying at a hotel with a church group.

Simo said Tribbitt originally is from the Chicago area, but was unfamiliar with the “heavily wooded area” where he went missing.

“Family and friends were very concerned about him,” Simo said. “We looked for him all night.”

Simo said this is not the first time Tribbitt has gone missing, so Addison police were happy to find him unharmed.
