Veterans can help the environment

Veterans are invited to join the Volunteer Veterans’ Conservation Corp. The group provides opportunities for veterans to continue serving their country by assisting with and developing projects to enhance state parks and natural areas. The VVCC meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon every other Saturday, June 8 through Sept. 28, to work on projects at Volo Bog State Natural Area, Moraine Hills State Park and McHenry Dam. First-timers are invited to join in the effort that brings together veterans from various generations and conflicts to protect and enhancement the environment. The current project is a chimney swift tower at Volo Bog. Contact Stacy Iwanicki at (815) 344-1294 or dnr.volobog@illinois.gov.
