Speed limits are least of our worries

Why on earth do we need to increase the speed limit in Illinois? Highways to 70 mph? No one pays any attention to speed limit signs as it is. And has anyone in Springfield given thought to the cost of changing all the signs on the miles and miles of roads in the state?

I am not saying that I drive 55 mph when I am on the highway (if you do you, you’ll get run down or cause an accident). So now if you will be driving 10 miles over the new limit of 70 (the new norm), the fuel economy in most cars will drop, costing even more money on the daily commute.

In a state that can’t seem to itself on track, this just looks like another stupid thing that government is doing to waste our tax dollars. How about fixing more important things before you change the speed limit to 70 mph?
