Two firefighters were injured while helping combat four house fires in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 3200 block of Carrington Drive around 3:30 p.m., according to a news release issued by Battalion Chief Jerry Larsen.

Crews found one a "well-involved" fire at the home and worked to protect nearby houses, but three of them also received damage, the news release said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital. Crews were still at the scene as of 6:30 p.m. combating the fires.

The cause remains under investigation.
