Wauconda firefighters respond to 2 motorcycle crashes

Wauconda firefighters reported handling two crashes Sunday afternoon.

One crash occurred on Route 12 just north of the Wynstone Drive in an unincorporated area near Lake Zurich.

Fire officials said they received the call around 2 p.m. for an accident involving two cars and one motorcycle. Firefighters said four patients were transported, three to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington and one to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

According to firefighters, one of the vehicles, headed north, slowed down significantly on Route 12, resulting in a chain-reaction crash.

The second crash occurred at 3:18 p.m. and involved one person on a motorcycle in front of 27645 W. Case Road, a quarter-mile from Route 12 in Wauconda, firefighters said.

Firefighters said the occupant was transported by ground to Northern Illinois Medical Center before being flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries.

The Lake County sheriff’s office, which handled both calls, was unable to provide any additional information about the crashes.
