Mt. Prospect Fire Dept. to host Children’s Fire Safety Fest

The Mount Prospect Fire Department, which turns 100 this year, will host its 34th annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival from May 6 to 9 at Mount Prospect Fire Station 14, 2000 E. Kensington Road.

The goal of the festival is to provide a children with an entertaining and educational experience about fire safety practices. During a trip through the festival a child will learn how to stop, drop and roll, practice Exit Drills In the Home (E.D.I.T.H.), hear the sound a smoke detector makes and learn how to stay low and go.

Children also will get to see an ambulance up close, take a fire station tour and meet a firefighter dressed in protective clothing.

The festival will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
