Why trustees walked out of meeting

I would like to help set the record straight as to why three elected officials walked out of a Lombard village board meeting a few months ago.

It was obvious to me that nothing constructive was being accomplished at this particular point in the meeting and in the interest of professionalism, Trustee Gron, Trustee Giagnorio and I all agreed that ending the meeting was the right thing to do. We had requested an adjournment — that was not granted. It was clear to me that we were at a point in the meeting that nothing good would transpire and that it was not good government to continue on a path leading nowhere. Thus, we made a decision to end the discussion the only way we could, by not returning to the meeting.

While I do not always agree with my fellow board members, I respect the decisions they make for the reasons they make them. I only ask that the decisions I make are respected for the reasons I make them as well.
