South Elgin blanks Bartlett

Corinne Hildebrandt scored an unassisted goal and Delaney Kelleher scored off an assist from Alena Ignate, both in the second half, as the South Elgin girls soccer team defeated Bartlett 2-0 Wednesday in the final round of pool play at the South Elgin tournament.

The Storm (5-0-1) will play for the championship of the tournament for the first time when they take on West Chicago at 3 p.m. today at Millennium Field in Streamwood.

Jourdan Vaulkner made 4 saves in goal for South Elgin, and Amanda Lozada had 10 saves for Bartlett (3-4), which will play Streamwood at 1 p.m. today for third place.

Dundee-Crown 1, Elgin 0: Jill Weichmann’s goal with 18:44 left in the first half lifted the Chargers to a win at the South Elgin tournament. Isabel Miranda had 5 saves in goal for D-C (1-4).

“We showed growth in the little things we’ve been talking about and practicing,” said D-C coach Sebastian Falinski. “Hopefully we can build off this and show some consistency.”
