Why not use the gyms already here?

I am all for wonderful parks and nice recreational facilities in our town. However, I question the need for every park to have a gym. We have grade schools, middle schools and a former high school spread throughout the community, all have gyms. Would it not make more sense to create an intergovernmental agreement and utilize those existing facilities than to build additional ones for exclusive use?
