A family overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning was saved by their daughter’s boyfriend after he stopped by the house yesterday morning, saw someone slumped over on the floor through a window and called 911. Full story.
Man who killed family in DUI crash charged again

U-46 board OKs revised calendar with Aug. 19 start date
The Elgin Area School District U-46 board unanimously voted to approve a 2013-14 school calendar last night that includes a start date of Aug. 19 and will keep students in school on Veterans Day. DuPage forest commissioners oppose consolidation

The Illinois House will break down the issue of carrying concealed firearms into more than two dozen votes in a seldom-used process beginning today. As the plains continues to get pummeled by snow, meteorologists claim the snow will start here around 9 a.m. It should be heavy at times, tapering off later this evening, but not stopping completely until late tonight or tomorrow morning.
