Elementary students invited to train with Buffalo Grove Orchesis group

Buffalo Grove High School’s fourth Annual Orchesis Dance Clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, for all interested fourth- through eighth-grade boys and girls in the school’s attendance area.

The clinic, at a cost of $25 per participant, includes two master classes with the talented Orchesis dancers, a T-shirt and a snack, and the opportunity to perform for a parent audience at 12:30 p.m. in the school theater. Clinic participants should enter the school at the theater entrance, door No. 1 and meet in the Miller Theater.

Under the direction of Michelle Carrison and assisted by Jamie Kapsimalis, Orchesis is in its 40th year as a dance program and co-curricular activity. The coed group encourages opportunities to perform and choreograph all dance art forms, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, break dancing, lyrical, tap, character, multicultural and more.

Orchesis performs at halftime football games, assemblies, Northwest Suburban High School District 214 dance events, and was previously selected to perform in the half-time show of the nationally televised Orange Bowl.
