McHenry Co. sheriff's office captures No. 8 fugitive

The McHenry County sheriff's office said Thursday it has apprehended a 23-year-old Crystal Lake man who held the No. 8 spot on its Top 10 Fugitives List.

Ivan G. Hernandez-Gonzalez, of the 600 block of Coventry Lane, was captured without incident Wednesday in Madison, Wis., by members of the department's Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

McHenry County sheriff's officials said Hernandez-Gonzalez was wanted for criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, violation of order of protection, domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, theft and leaving the scene of an accident, according to a news release.

Hernandez-Gonzalez is awaiting extradition to McHenry County from the Dane County jail. His bail was set at $86,000.

Authorities said the Crystal Lake Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the man on Feb. 29, 2012, as the result of a criminal sexual assault on a girl.

Numerous attempts to locate Hernandez-Gonzalez were unsuccessful, and he was added to the wanted fugitives list in November.

On Monday, McHenry County investigators received information that he was residing in either Indiana or Wisconsin and took him into custody two days later.

Anyone with information about wanted fugitives should contact police and not attempt to confront them. More information about the sheriff's Top 10 Fugitives List can be found at mchenrysheriff.org.
