Hip surgery for Marshall

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who established Bears records and career highs this season with 118 receptions and 1,508 receiving yards, will soon undergo arthroscopic hip surgery according to multiple sources.

It will be the third such procedure for Marshall, who has previously had one scope on each hip (2009 and ’10), and the surgery is considered minor. He is expected to be sidelined for 2-4 weeks, so it’s doubtful he will play in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 27. He has played in three of the previous Pro Bowls and was the game’s MVP last season with 4 TD receptions.

Marshall started all 16 games for the Bears this season and never appeared on the injury report because of a hip injury.
