Blackhawks open camp Sunday

The Blackhawks will be dropping the puck at training camp today at noon at Johnny’s IceHouse West, the team announced late Saturday night.

The 48-game schedule will kick off next Saturday at Los Angeles against the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings. The game will be televised nationally by NBC.

The Hawks will play at Phoenix on Sunday before returning to Chicago to face St. Louis on Tuesday at the United Center in their home opener.

In all, the Hawks play 10 of their first 12 games on the road because of Disney on Ice at the UC plus a pair of Lady Gaga concerts. They’ll start a seven-game homestand Feb. 12 and play 11 of their final 18 games at the UC. The season ends April 27 at St. Louis.

Thirteen of the club’s 24 home games take place on weekends, including seven Fridays, one Saturday and five Sundays.

Tickets for 2012-13 regular-season single games are on sale now exclusively at ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000. Fans holding tickets for originally scheduled games will be contacted with further information on the status of their original purchase.

“We know expectations to win are high and getting back to being a champion is the ultimate goal,” coach Joel Quenneville said. “We’re all looking forward to winning and we all know the ramifications if we don’t. We welcome that challenge and let’s go.”
