Mount Prospect man gets probation for stealing chain saw

A Cook County judge sentenced a 20-year-old Mount Prospect man to 24 months in a special probation program Wednesday in exchange for his guilty plea to a burglary charge.

The probation is known as Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities, an organization that assists people with substance abuse and mental health issues. Mount Prospect police charged Krzysztof Dudzinski with the class 2 felony after they encountered him walking shirtless and carrying a large object wrapped in a T-shirt.

The object turned out to be a chain saw, which the owner identified as one taken from her shed, prosecutors said at Dudzinski’s bond hearing last year. Prosecutors also say Dudzinski later admitted to police he took the saw.

The judge also ordered Dudzinski to pay $599 in fines.
