CUB offers guide on electrical aggregation

Concerned that voters in Schaumburg and other communities may know little about a “municipal aggregation” referendum they will vote on Nov. 6, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) has alerted consumers about a free consumer guide on the measure which could have a major impact on their electric bills.

CUB Executive Director David Kolata urged residents to use CUB’s guide, at CitizensUtilityBoard.org, to learn about the referendum question. Schaumburg and 81 other communities in ComEd territory will vote on aggregation referendums Nov. 6.

Residents in the 175 ComEd communities that already launched aggregation are saving about 40 percent off ComEd’s rate of 8.32 cents per kWh hour through May 2013, but the window of savings may be closing, CUB officials said.
