Suspect surrenders in Streamwood kidnapping, armed robbery

The 20-year-old Streamwood man suspected of kidnapping an acquaintance at gunpoint Friday turned himself into authorities later that night, Streamwood police said.

Kidnapping and armed robbery charges are pending against Keewon Taylor, 20, of the 0-100 block of Helen Court, police said.

Police said Taylor, who surrendered at the Cook County courthouse in Maywood, forced a 30-year-old man from his home on the 3000 block of Lynnwood Court and ordered him to drive.

The victim tried to escape and purposefully crashed the vehicle into a sign, police said. Taylor fled with a shotgun, leading police to set up a perimeter and put numerous schools and a library on lockdown. The weapon was recovered.

The victim was not hurt, police said.
