Schaumburg man killed in early morning crash

A Schaumburg man was killed in an early morning car crash in Elk Grove Village Thursday.

Ramon Echevarria, 24, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Corvette west on Estes Avenue from Nicholas Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a building a 1801 Estes shortly after midnight, police announced Thursday afternoon.

Elk Grove police and fire units responded to the crash at 12:36 a.m., and Echevarria was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there was a second vehicle headed west on Estes Avenue from Nicholas with Echevarria when the crash occurred, but they did not release any further information.

An autopsy performed Thursday concluded Echevarria died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The accident remains under investigation.
