Arlington soccer club scores with Komen walkers

On Saturday, Aug. 11, the Arlington Aces Soccer Club participated in cheering on the walkers for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure at Melas Park. Two teams representing the Aces Girls U14 Soccer Club set up a cheering station for the walkers as they entered Melas Park on Saturday morning.

The walkers were greeted with several energetic soccer players and family members representing the Arlington Aces. The walkers were offered a chance to ‘Score for the Cure.’ The Girls U14 Aces contributed a monetary donation for each goal. When all the scores and laughs were finished, the group helped raise over $200 that will be presented to Susan G. Komen Foundation.

In addition to high energy, the players set up a large soccer goal with decorations and posters which turned out to be a fun photo stop for the walkers. After a few snap shots and stories were shared, the walkers were offered water and treats as they continued on with their journey through Melas Park, and into Arlington Heights, as part of the 20-mile hike that day.
