Bartlett bank robbed for second time in two months

Bartlett police and the FBI are investigating a bank robbery at a TCF Bank branch inside a Jewel-Osco early Thursday evening.

This is the second robbery at that location since June 6, according to police.

A suspect entered the store at 125 E. Stearns Road and passed a note to a teller demanding money at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to police. The man implied he had a weapon, but a weapon was not displayed, according to Bartlett police.

The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of money, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 30-years-old, 5-feet 11-inches tall and about 150 pounds.

He was wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses and a headband during the robbery, police said.

The same bank was robbed on June 6 by two suspects at about 3:15 p.m., according to the FBI.

Bartlett Police Sgt. Geoffrey Pretkelis said police do not believe the suspect in Thursday's robbery was involved in the June robbery.

The Bartlett Police Department has allocated additional resources to the location and surrounding area as a result of the robberies.

Police also are working with management of TCF Bank and Jewel-Osco to reduce the likelihood of future holdups.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bartlett Police at (630) 837-0846 or the Chicago branch of the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
