Services planned for Bartlett boy, 11, killed in ATV accident

Memorial services will be in St. Charles this week for an 11-year-old boy killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Bartlett.

Visitation for Samuel Sloan-Mannella is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. Friday.

Samuel died Thursday, May 24, after he was struck by an ATV. Fire officials said he was not riding the vehicle but was injured as a relative drove it onto a trailer in the family’s driveway.

Samuel is survived by his parents, grandparents and three sisters. According to an obituary, he loved music — especially the drums — and playing with his sisters and his pet snake Izzy.

District 13 officials said Samuel was in sixth grade at Westfield Middle School in Bloomingdale. His family had moved from Bloomingdale to Bartlett in April.
