Armed man robs Streamwood gas station
A young man armed with a rifle robbed a Streamwood gas station of $154.68 in cash and merchandise just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
An employee of the Mobil station at 2 S. Sutton Road reported that he was counting cigarettes when the robber entered, pointed the rifle at him and demanded cigarettes and the contents of both of the business' cash registers.
The robber was described as a white male with brown hair, approximately 17 to 18 years old, 5 feet 9 inches or 5 feet 10 inches tall, and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants and a red scarf or bandanna over his face.
The robber was observed running northwest after leaving the gas station. A police dog picked up two diverging tracks. The first headed west into a lightly wooded area before turning south between two houses onto Trail Ridge Court. The second track continued west through the wooded area, across a small field and along a back fence line of Timber Trail Court.
Investigators conducted a canvass of the area, but a suspect was not located.
