STC North drill teams tops at invitational

The St. Charles North Varsity Drill Team took home high honors at the Wauconda High School Team Dance Illinois invitational competition on Jan. 15.

The girls competed in the AAA Division where they earned a first-place trophy for their lyrical dance, and second-place trophies in the open pom and open dance categories. The varsity team is coached by Nancy Prentiss.

The team also earned the Technical Excellence Award, which is presented to the team that displays the highest technical proficiency in the competition.

The varsity drill team will compete in the varsity state competition in Peoria on March 4.

The junior varsity North Stars had an excellent day as well, earning three first-place trophies in their lyrical dance, open pom and open dance routines.

The junior varsity team will compete at the JV State Competition on Sunday, Feb. 12, at Argo High School in Summit. The team is coached by Colleen Kobler.
