Daily Herald's Holiday Lights contest now open

It's that time of year ... time to let your inner Clark Griswold free and go nuts decorating your house for the holidays. And time to enter the Daily Herald's annual Holiday Lights Contest.

This year, we're changing things up a bit: Your votes will determine the winner and we're giving away two snowblowers.

The winner with the best lights in the burbs will get a Toro Power Clear snowblower valued at $800. And we'll give away a second snowblower, valued at $500, to a randomly selected voter.

The winner will also be profiled in a story in the Daily Herald; runners-up will be featured in our guide to the best lights in the burbs.

To enter, submit a photo on our contest page (deadline for submissions is midnight Dec. 11). Then the voting begins. You can vote up to five times between Dec. 12 and midnight Dec. 18 for the lights you like best. Once we're done tallying the votes, we'll announce a winner. For full rules and details, see our contest page.

Whether you go for the classy or kitschy, we want to see your lights. And your inflatable snowmen, plastic Santas, moving reindeer, sparkling stars, dancing sugarplum fairies ...
