Friends of Palatine Library book sale coming up

A popular used book sale that’s been known to draw out-of-staters is just a few weeks away.

The Friends of the Palatine Public Library will hold its three-day fundraiser beginning Friday, Oct. 21, at the library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine.

All proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization, an energetic and dedicated group that’s been a library affiliate for more than 60 years. The group funds the library district’s summer reading program, and also recently allocated money for new furniture and renovations.

The sale selection includes books, CDs and DVDs, all donated by the community and all available at a deep discount.

Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

Admission is free the entire weekend except on Friday, when nonmembers must pay $5. Library officials recommend making plans to attend early in order to maximize chances of finding especially coveted items. Prices are reduced on Sunday.
