District 15 board sets superintendent’s goals

The new contract approved for Palatine Township Elementary District 15 Superintendent Scott Thompson, which calls for a salary freeze in 2011-12, also includes four performance goals.

타 To help the district maximize resources for instruction and remain fiscally strong, Thompson is to present budgets that show movement toward a balanced budget while preserving savings and ensuring resources are available for instruction. That includes creating a finance committee.

타 To help the district have safe, modern and well-maintained facilities, Thompson is to develop a buildings and facilities maintenance plan that outlines priorities and funding.

타 To help the district have open, frequent and ongoing dialogue, Thompson is to continue to work on effective communication, part of which includes devising a five-year strategic plan that can be articulated to the community, going to local activities and interacting with area leaders.

타 And to increase student performance in all academic areas, Thompson is to create a plan to ensure all measures show annual improvement. He’s to update the board as new assessment data is compiled and annually present an achievement report.

Thompson said he’s honored the board has confidence in his leadership and recognizes District 15 is headed in a positive direction.
