Great response to Oak Meadows fire

As president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and on behalf of the board of commissioners and district staff, I extend my sincere gratitude to the police, fire and emergency departments that responded to the Feb. 26 fire at Oak Meadows Golf Club in Addison. That evening, 21 departments worked to control the fire and ensure the public's safety.

Although the fire resulted in the loss of a historic district structure, we are grateful no serious injuries were suffered. Of course, the firefighting, police and emergency teams' efficient responses and professional conduct cannot be understated. All agencies' actions were commendable, and we thank you.
