Why you shouldn't go digital
If we want to solve the economic crisis all we have to do is not update our televisions from analog to digital. Congress recently approved delaying the nation's local broadcast stations from shutting off their analog broadcasts and changing to the mandatory digital only broadcasts to June 12. The Federal Communications Commission has estimated that there are approximately 20 million U.S. households that receive free, over-the-air television. Here's where it gets real interesting, so stay with me. Did you know that the average American watches three to four hours of television a day? That means during the week the average American watches between 21 and 28 hours a week. If you're an average American with an analog television and don't get the converter box, you won't get a television picture after June 12. Therefore, this will allow you an additional 21 to 28 hours a week for you to either work, look for work, go to school part-time, spend quality time with your family, sit down for dinner and actually talk to your family, read, exercise, or doing something else productive with your life. You will now have 21 to 28 hours a week for yourself to truly do what you enjoy and you will no longer be spoon fed negative daily news from the liberal "mainstream" media. It's apparent to me that television and low economic prosperity have an extremely close relationship, which enables each to survive off the other. However, what isn't apparent to most people is that due to television we are developing a less productive society of individuals who are lazy, out of shape, can't communicate very well with one another and are living vicariously through others accomplishments, instead of attempting to succeed or potentially fail on their own.
