Cozza, Sawyer have park district at heart
As president of the Palatine Celtic Soccer Club roughly eight years ago, I had the pleasure of working with Jay Cozza and Nick Sawyer. There are two seats up for election on the Palatine Park District Board of Commissioners on April 7, and I highly recommend these two candidates for those positions.
Jay has been a commissioner for 18 years. Within that period, he has shared oversight of many projects and accomplishments of the Board, up to and including the Falcon Park Recreation Facility, due to open in February 2010.
He also found time to serve as, among other things, a coach for the House soccer program. During Jay's tenure, the Board has maintained a fiscal conservatism that relies on a combination of low taxes and user fees to ensure that services expand and are available for the whole community at affordable rates for all.
Nick succeeded me as President of the Soccer Club, but he already had served in many capacities over 10 years within the Club at that point. He also was a coach in the Club's travel program for many years.
Although his term as President ended in 2004 and he has had no children in the program for several years, Nick has continued to serve the club by, among other ways, acting as coordinator at the Hamilton complex for the annual Spring House Tournament and the Labor Day Celtic Cup Tournament.
Both of these candidates have a strong sense of service to community and are knowledgeable of community needs. They are my friends, and I know them to be people of integrity and character.
Vote for Jay Cozza and Nick Sawyer for Palatine Park District Board of Commissioners on April 7.
