Kudos to Dist. 128 students, staff

I want to congratulate Vernon Hills High School students, teachers and administration for their recent state championships. The months of April and May have been stellar ones for them.

WYSE brought home a state championship trophy on Tuesday, April 7. Our band, orchestra and choir won their third consecutive state championship the weekend of April 17 and 18. Math team proved that once was not enough when they repeated their last year's state championship. This past weekend VHHS wind ensemble won Superstate competition. They will be the honor band for next year's competition.

I would also like to congratulate the art students who have shown their works at the LISA show. The winners will be judged against other schools in Chicago this weekend.

VHHS also had a wonderful showing at the 4 x 5 show. A student was awarded Best in Show, this was among 45 schools and 1,400 pieces of art that were shown.

At the IATE Best Prose and Poetry Contest, two of VHHS's finest student writers were chosen to have their works published. VHHS was only one of two schools to have more than one published winner. Several other VHHS students were commended.

I would also like to congratulate Libertyville High School for their wind ensemble Superstate win.

District 128 has much to be proud of in their academics and fine art departments. I wanted the readers of the Daily Herald to be aware of all that our students have accomplished.
