Don't mess with history
I was shocked when I head that the Sears Tower was taken over and was going to be changing its name to the Willis Tower. Chicago is known for many historical and monumental things and the Sears Tower is one of the many. Chicago has lost many original names of historical landmarks because of these places being taken over. I think the original name of the landmark is part of the history and shouldn't be changed. If you're changing the name, you might as well just get rid of the landmark because once you do change the name it never seems to be the same in many people's hearts and minds. Marshall Field's is another example of this. People were and are still upset two years later about the change of the name from Marshall Field's to Macy's. Marshall Field's isn't the only part of history that we have lost over the years. There have been over a dozen name changes throughout the years. Now we have to lose the Sears Tower to the Willis Tower as well. I know many people are frustrated and angry about the changes. The name is part of the history and that shouldn't be messed with.
