Dist. 158 needs Larry Snow
Larry Snow has represented the residents of District 158 with integrity and knowledge. His actions before and after he became a board member saved us tax money, helped the children and exposed corruption either by omission, negligence or deliberate, that were perpetrated in District 158 by some members of the school board and mostly by Mike Skala, who was president of the board for many years.
Skala should not be elected because: his wife is a teacher in the high school. He can't serve as an unbiased member of the board. He would have to recuse himself on too many issues. We need a full-time board member without any conflict of interest.
During Skala's watch as head of the board of education and since: unapproved money was taken by administrators; there was the referendum scandal and the busing time scheduling fiasco that followed; supplying the state with false information and the problems we faced after that; a referendum to raise our already exorbitant taxes; a $100,000 manufactured job for a board member.
What's next? A new high school campus. Saying that students would suffer academically in a large campus? Stevenson High School, one of the top high schools in the country, has almost 5,000 students and faculty.
You'll be opening your wallets wider for Skala. Don't be fooled. You can't change the spots on a leopard. We need Larry Snow to be our watchdog. He doesn't benefit financially for all of the work he has done.
