ECC's support staff endorse Green, Schuring-Redmer

Elgin Community College Support Staff's Union will endorse two challengers to fill trustee seats in the April 7 election.

Support Staff Association President Pam Weedman announced Tuesday that the 370-member union would back Rick Green and Donna Schuring-Redmer because both candidates "have the best interests of SSECCA and ECC in mind," and "offered the opportunity to provide a cooperative spirit to the board."

In a news release, the union noted Green's 30 years of experience as an ECC faculty member, and his work as a contract negotiator for the Elgin Community College Faculty Association.

In endorsing Schuring-Redmer, union members cited her educational experience and her potential to be a fresh face and bring a new attitude to the board.

Green, of Elgin, and Redmer, of West Dundee face incumbent Robert Getz and challenger Robin Lisboa, both of Elgin.
